Together James and Serpil have recorded, edited and broadcast live radio, documentaries and podcasts. They have worked in the field under extreme circumstances while covering the 2015 centenary commemorations of the Gallipoli landings in Turkey. And they have worked with radio legends including Derryn Hinch, Jon Faine, Red Symons, Waleed Aly and John Safran.
Serpil has worked within media and communications for over 20 years with passion, commitment and an effervescent personality. She has presented live TV and radio from local and international locations and produced several high rating programs. In the field of communications Serpil has formulated strategic plans in both government and commercial organisations.
In 2015 Serpil travelled to Turkey for ABC Radio’s broadcast of the centenary commemorations of the Gallipoli landings. While reporting live to air she secured an exclusive interview with then Prime Minister Tony Abbott. She also reported live into ABC News 24’s The World program. In 2016, Serpil presented the Afternoon program and The Sunday Sesh on ABC Local Radio to a national audience. She has been a regular co-host on The Conversation Hour on ABC Radio Melbourne with Jon Faine.
James began his broadcasting career presenting commercial breakfast radio. He later moved into technical and production roles with the ABC where he worked for more than a decade. During that time he created programs with Richard Stubbs, Red Symons and Jon Faine.
In 2016 James joined Alan Kohler to launch his online investing publication The Constant Investor which produced a number of podcasts. James built an onsite studio and developed a mobile recording system that enabled high quality recordings in almost any location – including the bubbly cafe where The Money Cafe podcast is recorded. He also wrote the marketing text for The Constant Investor’s website, EDMs, conversion emails and social media. As the business grew James was promoted to Managing Editor and then General Manager.
